The founder and majority-owner of Reconstruction Capital II Ltd, Ion Florescu is an industrialist with over 20 years’ experience of restructuring companies in Romania. After having obtained a degree in History from Cambridge University, Ion Florescu briefly worked in journalism and banking before setting up Reconstruction Capital Plc (RC1) in 1997, with the purpose of purchasing significant or controlling interests in Romanian companies, and then turning them around. Together with his team, he subsequently took over the management of The Romanian Investment Fund Limited (2001) , and the SG Romania Fund (2002). In 2005, he founded Reconstruction Capital II Limited (RC2), with a similar objective as RC1 but with a wider geographical focus on South East Europe. RC2 is listed on the AIM section of the London Stock Exchange. RC1 and RC2 are the majority owners of Romanian and Bulgarian paints and coatings group Policolor SA, where Mr Florescu acts as President of the Supervisory Board. He has been involved in a number of successful exits in Romania, including in the Pharmaceuticals (Terapia), Transportation (Socep), Textiles (Braiconf), Financial Services (Top Factoring) and Food Industries (Albalact).
